I’m Tiger, organizer and drummer from XR Drummers Berlin.
We, in solidarity with XR Rhythms UK and activist drumming groups across Europe, invite you to join us in making XR Berlin Drum Break 2025 a reality - a 10-day explosion of rhythm, action, and regenerative culture.
What We’re Doing
Imagine this: Berlin streets alive with 150+ drummers, synchronized and loud, leading protests that transport awed crowds to another world. Giant puppets - like Gaiia, a gift from XR UK - tower over the crowds, making onlookers feel inspired and loved. Large marionettes created by Berlin artists dance among us. Newcomers feel compelled to join in alongside us. The urgency of the climate crisis is for a moment celebrated. This isn’t just a protest: it’s a living, breathing work of art that demands attention and inspires action.
From March 21–31 2025 we’ll gather drummers, activists, and artists from across Europe to:
- Train and collaborate in drumming workshops
- Perform high-energy public actions that shake Berlin (in every sense)
- Foster resilience through regenerative culture workshops on self-care, mindfulness and meditation, and burnout prevention
- Share stories, poetry, and meals
This is more than a gathering - it’s a movement-building event designed to empower activists, connect communities, and create a ripple effect of creativity and courage.
Why This Matters
The climate crisis isn’t just about numbers and policies - it’s about people. People who are exhausted, overwhelmed, and desperate for a spark of hope.
That’s where we come in. Drumming is primal. It’s in our DNA. It’s a call to action that everyone understands. It connects us to each other, to the planet, and to the urgency of this moment.
But activism isn’t sustainable without care - for ourselves, each other, and the planet. That’s why regenerative culture is at the heart of this event. We’ll teach activists how to sustain their energy and joy, so the fight for climate justice doesn’t burn them out.
What We Need Funding For
We need your help to bring this vision to life. Here’s what your support will contribute to funding:
Accommodation: Hostels and local housing for participants (€35,000)
Transportation: Helping activists travel from the UK, elsewhere in Germany, and beyond (€20,000)
Sustainable Food: Vegan meals to fuel our drummers (€5,000)
Workshop Spaces: Rooms for training, rehearsals, and community building (€1,000)
Facilitator Fees: Fair compensation for trainers, workshop leaders, meditation guides, and storytellers (€4,000)
Total Goal: €65,000

Join Us: If you’re a drummer or activist, or want to be one (no experience necessary!), come to Berlin and be part of this incredible experience. Let us know if you want to volunteer your time to help with any of the roles that need filling: Awareness/Safeguarding Person, Kitchen Help, Equipment Transport, etc.

Hosting: We are looking for people that can host visiting protest drummers during the upcoming XR Berlin Drum Break 2025 (March 21st to 31st). If you are able to offer a space, please send your contact info to XR Drummers Berlin.
