Inspired by Brazilian Carnival music, our drummers bring rousing rhythms and an atmosphere of celebration to Extinction Rebellion. Creating a vast wall of sound that has to be experienced to be believed, the power of drumming can draw a crowd, get everyone dancing and even fend off the police.Â
Don’t be afraid to join up even if you have never drummed before – most of our members haven’t, but have heard the sound and are eager to join in. Then they never look back. Although our rhythms are Samba influenced, they are also heavily simplified so anyone can pick them up. If you’re apprehensive about carrying a drum, consider a cowbell or shaker, as these are much lighter. And if you are a seasoned drummer or percussionist, there’s plenty for you to do to add layering or even to train to blow the whistle and direct a band. XR Drummers Berlin is part of an international family of activist bands started by the Rhythms of Resistance movement over twenty years ago.

Inspiriert von der brasilianischen Karnevalsmusik, bringen unsere Samba-Bands mitreißende Rhythmen und eine feierliche Atmosphäre zu Extinction Rebellion. Die Kraft des Trommelns kann eine Menschenmenge anziehen, alle zum Tanzen bringen und sogar die Polizei abhalten, indem sie eine riesige Klangwand erzeugt, die man erlebt haben muss, um es zu glauben.
Scheue Dich nicht, mitzumachen, auch wenn Du noch nie getrommelt hast - die meisten von uns haben kaum Erfahrung, aber sie haben den Klang gehört und sind begeistert mitzumachen. Obwohl unsere Rhythmen vom Samba beeinflusst sind, sind sie stark vereinfacht, sodass jede:r sie nachmachen kann. Falls Du bereits Erfahrung mit einem Schlagzeug hast, kannst Du dich mit den verschiedenen Instrumenten vertraut machen oder auch üben, wie man eine Band anleitet. XR Drummers ist Teil einer internationalen Familie von Aktivistenbands, die vor über zwanzig Jahren von der Bewegung Rhythms of Resistance gegründet wurde.
