Lola Perrin

Lola Perrin is a London-based American pianist and composer of works for solo and multiple pianos who has performed extensively in Europe. She has composed eleven piano suites from various triggers including the speed of thought in the brain, the passage from this life to the next, and imagined characters in the deserted streets of Edward Hopper.

In recent years she’s exclusively turned her attention to the planetary emergency both as a composer and as a citizen, bringing the two elements together in her ninth piano suite, Significantus, which combines music with talks and audience conversation on climate action. This led her to found ClimateKeys; an initiative in which musicians could engage audiences in the same way. To date seventy concerts have been held in thirteen countries.

Lola Perrin is a member of Extinction Rebellion and coordinates street events including a six hour street piano concert with 32 concert pianists during Rebellion 2018, a four hour Procession through London visiting oil companies to counter their greenwashing, and a music theatre action at the doors of a major world aviation conference.

She has been interviewed by various media in connection with these projects, most recently by BBC radio, Bloomberg News and Democracy Now TV. Her tenth piano suite, The Big Invisible Clock (2018), is about the short time we have to transition away from unsafe systems, and her eleventh suite, Music from our Times (2019), is inspired by the people of Rebellion around the world.
